Read MorePart of a tiny fishing village with roughly 450 inhabitants, Quimixto is a small beach destination about a 25 minute water taxi ride south of the popular neighborhood of La Zona Romantica in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico. This clean, secluded, and well-preserved beach is a popular destination among tourists who like to feel a little more detached from the world. Â There is a ponga (water taxi) drop off at the one pier belonging to the beach. You can catch a ponga at various places in Puerto Vallarta with the most popular departing point at Los Muertos Beach Pier.
In Quimixto, you get to a river and restaurants with a short hike and some even horseback through the dense tropical jungle. In addition, the beaches are clean and the ocean water more clear and refreshing. If a nice quiet day on the beach is what you are looking for, than this is your spot.
